We pray for Black Country Churches Engaged:
for its Church Leaders as they enjoy closer friendship and deliberation together;
for this ecumenical body's Enabling Group, the "make-it-happen" people;
for those who operate in any Task Groups that may be established;
for the Ecumenical Officer and his colleagues in the denominations;
and those who seek to befriend the Local Ecumenical Partnerships.
We ask that their shared understanding of the faith and shared leadership may support the Christians of this sub-region in their pilgrimage.
We pray for the Local Ecumenical Partnerships in this area:
university and hospital and hospice chaplaincies;
churches which share premises;
congregations welded together from different traditions;
ministers and churches joined in covenant.
We ask that where their hopes are fulfilled, others may be encouraged to let go of their suspicions and seek out opportunities for active co-operation.
We pray for the many local groupings in our towns:
formal Councils of Churches and Churches Together groups;
informal and mutually-supportive gatherings of ministers;
groups working on particular aspects of mission
in schools, in industry, and with local councils;
ad hoc groups working to meet a perceived need;
specific committees formed to further initiatives such as Hope '08;
workers for Christian Aid, CAFOD, Tear Fund and other on-going charitable
enterprises.
We ask that their distinct expressions of Christian love may provide a revelation which enriches and reconciles and is contagious in neighbourhood, work-place, town and city, and ultimately, Lord through your world.
O Lord hear our prayer. Amen.
